Support for Parents of Children with Disabilities

My Story

Hello!

Like many of you, I have experienced the joys and struggles of raising a child with a disability. I raised a son with spina bifida who survived and flourished for 44 years until Covid. When he entered the public school system, I had to fight for my son Steven’s right to be mainstreamed with the supports needed to thrive academically.

As a New York City assistant principal, I was privy to the protocols and state laws that enabled me to strongly advocate for him. Participating in other students' IEP meetings, I realized that if parents aren’t aware of the services available for their child, the child suffers educationally.

When I retired, I continued to use my knowledge to support families by advocating at IEP meetings and touring potential educational settings with parents and children to find the best fit.

Parents of disabled children are often left to fend for themselves in attaining not only medical but also educational resources for their child. If you are having difficulty accessing the proper resources for your child, regardless of the disability, or would like a supportive advocate by your side, I am available pro bono to assist you in your endeavors.
